Geordie Ghosts and Glasses that Gan Flying off the Bar · Jan 30, 09:01 PM

My wife likes watching Ghost Hunters International every Wednesday night.

They go to places in Europe that are reknowned for hauntings, unexplained phenomenon and strange occurances to see if they can capture any audio or video.

Apparently they were filming in a public house and I heard "There have been strange reports that glasses have been flying off the bar"

Unimpressed by this, I said "That's nuthin' lass, that happen's every Friday neet in Newcastle."

My wife pretty much fell off the couch at this point laughing her arse off...

Geordies at Work · Jan 27, 06:45 PM

What’s your work area like? Does it match your personality or is it dull and boring?

Fortunately, where I work I can decorate my area to my own taste, within reason of course.

soccer lamp

Of course, the vast majority of Geordies are soccer mad, so I went out and bought a soccer lamp for my desk. You may take the Geordie out of Newcastle, but you can’t take the Newcastle out of the Geordie.

Note the small soccer ball next to my MacBook Pro. That’s my destresser. I can either squeeze it, bounce it off the wall, or throw it at the next person that interrupts me.

A Geordie In Exile · Jan 5, 09:25 PM

As a Geordie living almost five-thousand miles away from my place of birth, I know what it’s like to be in a place that is unfamiliar and surrounded by people who don’t talk the same language. Ok, so Americans do talk the same language, but it’s different enough to be strange (to me anyway).

I moved over to the USA in 2000 to be with my wife (we met online). She’s my best friend, escort, and translator all in one and believe me, I need the translator part a whole lot.

For those of you who may be reading this and wondering why I have such a difficult time understanding the American accent, you be want to visit the accent I’m used to hearing – the Geordie accent. As you can probably tell by checking through that wikipedia link, its a whole lot different to what I’m hearing in the U.S.

This blog will be about my experiences living as a Geordie exile in America. I know that there are a lot of Geordies living in exile all over the world, and I want this site to be considered as a small part of Geordieland that you can access no matter what time it is in your part of the world.

Howay the Toon.
